System Center 1801+ – Microsofts first release of a Semi-Annual System Center version
Microsoft announced to Ignite 2017 Semi-Annual Channel releases for System Center to deliver new capabilities at a faster cadence and they kept their word: System Center 1801 is available.
For Orchestrator, Service Management Automation(SMA) and Service Provider Foundation (SPF) this version contains the features and bugfixes until System 2016 UR4, including support for TLS 1.2, no more and no less.
System Center, version 1801 focuses on enhancements and features for System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM), and Data Protection Manager (SCDPM) with improved Linux monitoring support, more efficient VMware backup, additional support for Windows Server, and better user experience and performance. Semi-Annual Channel releases have an 18-month support policy. In addition, in the Long-Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) Microsoft will release at a lower frequency. The LTSC will continue to provide 5 years of mainstream support followed by 5 more years of extended support.
